Winter gardening

Always looking to save a penny any where I can.

So---- pinterest ---oh addicting pinterest gave me this idea to try. I find it hard to believe but willing to give it a try and hopefully have lots of plants for very little money! I saved a couple milk jugs, then went on a scavenger hunt to find the one roll of duct tape in the house, ran out to to pick up some perennial seeds( I chose purple coneflower and lupine) had left over seed starting pods from last year, an empty clear storage container.

To My Surprise the little Seedlings Sprouted.

Seeds in January Zinnias in  July!

No need to toss that shattered glass patio table - Patio table makeover

There was an evening storm rolling in and wanted to remove the umbrella from the patio table afraid that the wind may knock the table over and shatter the glass. My husband picked up this enormously heavy umbrella from a garage sale for only 20 bucks and impatient me did not wait for my hubby to help me remove the beast from table before it started to pour and due to my stubbornness i tried removing it by myself and crash the patio glass top broke into millions of pieces. I was distraught! I really liked this pub height table and couldn't afford to replace it!!
The next day I went on a Google Internet search to find a solution but in my case did not find any info without having to purchase materials to make a new top or order a new piece of glass.
Remembering we had leftover wood lattice left over from the deck and some wood stain I had a plan. Ran for my circular saw, tape measure, pencil, carpenter square and a staple gun and off to work I went. To my surprise it was turning out just like I planned. In a couple hours it was complete! I am thrilled how it turn out, considering it didn't cost a thing! Here are some photos of final result!
